We are a group of yoga teachers who attended yoga teacher training and worked at Abhinam Yoga School in India in 2016 - 2017.

We have created this website to disclose the issues of grave sexual assaults and other unacceptable practices which have been going on in the Abhinam Yoga School in the recent years. In particular, these are related to Yog Namito, the main teacher, Maki/Shunyo and Deepika, the other teachers (to a smaller degree) and their administrator/marketing manager Ansh. 

 

These include:

 

1) Sexual abuse of female students by Yog Namito, in particularly females much younger than himself, including forcing the females to share his bed and have sex with him, abusing his position of power

 

2) Using false credentials to attract yoga students - Yog Namito claiming he is a surgeon and being unable to competently answer anatomy-related questions during classes and teach anatomy classes in general. When asked to show the proof of his qualifications, the school was unable to produce any. 

 

3) Behaving inappropriately toward students during classes - expressing anger and dissatisfaction, shouting at students when asked questions

 

4) Failure to provide a safe yoga practice - pushing the unprepared students into advanced postures and doing strong adjustments which caused students physical pain as a result of the practice. Not providing any advice on the safe practice and posture modifications for the safe practice with different injuries. 

 

5) Yog Namito engaging in non-yogic behaviours incl. alcohol abuse, smoking, meat eating while preaching to his students that he is a vegetarian and a yogi

 

6) Faking positive reviews on the YA page to attract more students - blackmailing the students to write positive reviews under the threat of not approving their certificates through Yoga Alliance.

7) Low quality of education and lack of proper expertise in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. The teacher training did not include such essential elements of the practice as Sanscrit Vinyasa count, for example.

In the "Reviews" section of this website, you will find 22 witness statements from the members of our group which describe how Abhinam Yoga School, and its head teacher Yog Namito in particular, violated the code of conduct for Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Schools. These include statements from the two females who have been sexually abused by Yog Namito directly.  

 

These matters have been repeatedly brought to the attention of Yoga Alliance US and UK  in 2016 - 2018. In all cases our complaints were either dismissed or not dealt with after reassurances to take them forward. 

 

We really hope that disclosing what has been happening at this yoga school will help  prevent other people, in particular females, from becoming the victims of sexual harassment and fraud.

We do hope that this will help put an end to the sexual and other misconduct going on at the Abhinam Yoga School.
